CSB Founder Awards

These awards honor individuals and organizations who have made exceptional contributions to addressing homelessness and supporting vulnerable populations in our community.

Mel Schottenstein Leadership Award

This award recognizes change makers and leaders who have made a significant difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness in the Columbus community. Winners demonstrate deep commitment, caring, leadership, and vision in combating homelessness.

Nancy Jeffrey Advocate Award

This award celebrates exemplary work among CSB partner agencies, highlighting tireless activism on behalf of vulnerable people in our community. Winners are professionals working directly with and for people facing homelessness, demonstrating outstanding advocacy efforts and dedication.

Bob Lazarus Unsung Hero Award

This award honors the quiet and steadfast work of community members directly involved in serving the homeless community. Winners demonstrate humble and steady dedication to making a difference in the lives of those facing homelessness.

Advocate for Change

  • Support Zone In Columbus: Stay engaged with Zone In Columbus and learn how zoning changes can have a dramatic impact on the amount of affordable housing in our community.
  • Attend Government Meetings: Attend your local government meetings and especially any public hearings on new developments to be a voice for future residents of our growing community.
  • Support Legislative Efforts: Engage in advocacy for policies that promote affordable housing, mental health support, and homelessness prevention. Sign petitions participate in advocacy days and encourage others to support these initiatives.
  • Join Community Shelter Board Summit: Be part of the solution, Homelessness affects everyone, and the solution starts with you.

Spread Awareness

  • Share on Social Media: Raise awareness by sharing facts, stories, and updates about homelessness on your social media platforms. Do not leave this to your agency’s communications lead. Use your own voice and your own social media channels to add your voice to the call for change. Use hashtags like #PlaceToCallHome and #EndHomelessness to spread the word.
  • Tell Others: Inform others about the realities of homelessness as an insider and the importance of comprehensive support systems. Host informational sessions or discussions in your community.
