Give NowDear Friend: Thank you for your support of the Community Shelter Board. We are fortunate to have strong community involvement and dedicated leaders who are committed to ending homelessness in Columbus and Franklin County. Many words come to mind when I think of shelter: basic need, complex approach, stability, and the list goes on. Most importantly, it is our obligation. The Community Shelter Board plays a unique role in the community. We unify resources and knowledge to implement quality programs that support outreach, prevention, emergency shelter, and supportive housing services. Our primary goal is ending homelessness by rebuilding lives. Not only do we assure access to quality shelter and housing, we also help people get the tools and skills they need to prevent future homelessness. Meaning, we provide linkage to housing assistance, employment referral and training, and community resources. This strategic approach helps ensure long-term housing stability. Shelter has additional meaning for the people we help. It is a new start, the opportunity to have a role in the community, or the ability to reconnect with children. For Joan and her son, it was safety and stability … and she was fortunate to have her son back in school. Your investment is critical to helping thousands of people who are without a basic, human need – shelter. I will leave you with a question: “What does shelter mean to you?” Together, we will continue rebuilding lives for people in Columbus and Franklin County. With warmest regards.
