COLUMBUS, Ohio – The U.S. Interagency Council on the Homeless, U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs have collectively awarded $3.3 million from the Collaborative Initiative to End Homelessness to fund a new project to address chronic homelessness in our community. The initiative supports President Bush’s goal to end chronic homelessness by seeking to create a collaborative and comprehensive approach to addressing homelessness.

The Rebuilding Lives
PACT[1]
Team Initiative, an extension of the Rebuilding Lives plan, will create 80 new
units of permanent supportive housing and build an infrastructure that
systematically and successfully links participants to mainstream benefits and
resources. The target population is
adults who have experienced chronic homelessness and have a serious mental
disability.
Rebuilding Lives PACT Team
Initiative partners include Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, Columbus
Neighborhood Health Centers Inc., Community Housing Network, Community Research
Partners, Community Shelter Board, the Corporation for Supportive Housing,
Franklin County Department of Job & Family Services, Southeast Inc., and
Chalmers P. Wylie VA Outpatient Clinic.
The funding
announcement was made today at a meeting of the Interagency Council on the
Homeless held at the White House Conference Center where CSB executive director,
Barbara Poppe, and CSB Advisory Board member, Holly Schottenstein Kastan,
addressed the Council on Columbus and Franklin County’s successful efforts to
