"A Raisin in the Sun"
The Community Shelter Board, a non-profit organization working towards the elimination of homelessness, will be hosting a command performance of "A Raisin in the Sun" on Wednesday, April 5, 2000. This play, by Lorraine Hansberry, was the first play to be produced on Broadway by an African-American woman and won a New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play in 1959. The story revolves around the strength, power, and heritage of one African-American family and their refusal to yield to the racism of their time. 100% of the ticket price will go towards solutions for the growing problem of homelessness in our community.
