Community Shelter Board Announces New Staff Appointments
COLUMBUS, Ohio – John Hardiman, a twenty-five year veteran of social services, joins the Community Shelter Board as Program Director. Hardiman has managed, designed and implemented social service programs within central Ohio with a special focus on housing issues and youth. As the founder of two youth group homes, program director for Gladden House and chief administrator for state supported community programs, Hardiman became familiar with the impact of housing issues on individuals and the community. Hardiman has worked with local and regional government, as well as, business and community organizations throughout the central Ohio region.
As Program Director, Hardiman will be responsible for the coordination with CSB partner agencies and other agencies to ensure homelessness prevention, shelter, supportive housing, and related services are delivered effectively. Hardiman will also assist with community education. Hardiman is a graduate of The Ohio State University’s School of Social Work.
Toni Smith is the Community Relations Director for the Community Shelter Board. Smith has over 15 years of experience working with private industry, government and non-profit agencies in the area of communication and public relations. Trained as marketing and public relations professional, Smith has contributed to strategic, customer service and media relations planning and implementation for Glory Foods, Opera Columbus, BellSouth and Census 2000.
At the Community Shelter Board, Smith is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive community education and community relations plan through collaboration with the partner agencies funded by the Community Shelter Board. Smith holds a master’s degree from The Ohio State University.
Lisa Ann Robertson has been hired as Grants Administrator for the Community Shelter Board. Ms. Robertson comes to the agency with 10 years of non-profit experience in the social services field. Most recently, Robertson worked with Project Open Hand-Columbus, an AIDS service organization that provides nutritional services to individuals and families living with AIDS.
Robertson is familiar with homeless issues having worked her way up through the ranks at Friends of the Homeless from administrative assistant to Director of Planning and Evaluation. From there she moved on to work as Family Housing Collaborative representative at Lutheran Social Services. She also worked as a Volunteer Coordinator at the WINGS program, a YWCA initiative that assists homeless women. Robertson holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University where she graduated with honors.
The Community Shelter Board, established in 1986, is a non-profit intermediary organization that coordinates community based efforts, fosters collaboration, and funds services to assist families and individuals in Central Ohio to resolve their housing crisis. The Community Shelter Board allocates $6.0 million annually to support programs at 15 agencies. Last year, these programs served more that 11,000 individuals. The Community Shelter Board is funded by the City of Columbus, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, the United Way of Franklin County, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the State of Ohio and other public and private donors.
