COMMUNITY SHELTER BOARD ANNOUNCES

NEW PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Community Shelter Board is pleased to announce that Tom Albanese has accepted the position of Program Director.  Tom is currently the Associate Director of Family & Community Services in Kent, Ohio, where he has major program responsibilities for the agency's homeless services, mental health, and community programs.  Tom is the current Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO).  He is a graduate of Kent State with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, is a Licensed Social Worker, and holds a certificate in Non-profit Management.  Tom has also completed post-graduate course work in the School of Social Work at the University of Akron.

As Program Director for the Community Shelter Board, Tom will be responsible for homeless and housing program development, and will work together with partner agencies to improve quality, effectiveness, and outcomes.

The Community Shelter Board (CSB) was created in 1986 to respond to the growing problem of homelessness in Columbus and Franklin County.  Since that time, CSB has allocated over $47 million to programs that provide services to families and individuals experiencing a housing crisis in our community.  Last year, these programs served more than 11,000 individuals.  The Community Shelter Board is funded by the City of Columbus, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, the United Way of Central Ohio, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the State of Ohio, and other public and private donors.
