Community Shelter Board Hires Director of Data & Evaluation

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Community Shelter Board (CSB) has hired Evette Larry to lead the organization’s data and evaluation efforts.  As Director of Data and Evaluation, Larry will manage and maintain system evaluation data necessary for programmatic and planning decisions of CSB and its partner agencies.

CSB created this position and the new Data and Evaluation department out of the need for constant and current information to better assess the needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Columbus and Franklin County. “The Data and Evaluation department will be instrumental in helping to develop our community’s updated strategy that will address the needs of homeless individuals and families under one comprehensive plan. Another two individuals will be hired by the Director of Data and evaluation to round out the department”, said Barbara Poppe, CSB Executive Director.

“I hope to be able to build upon the solid foundation that exists.  New technological opportunities will allow for simplification of all data processes.  This will afford CSB more research and evaluation capabilities.”, said Larry.

Larry comes to CSB from Nashville, Tennessee, where she worked as a Senior Epidemiologist at United South and Eastern Tribes, Inc. She was responsible for assessments and prioritization of unmet public health support needs.  She also developed and adapted data quality improvement processes and protocols for 24 healthcare facilities within 12 states. Prior to Larry’s position in Nashville, she worked for the Columbus Health Department for five years as an epidemiologist where she performed community health analyses and assessments. Larry received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama.

The Community Shelter Board, established in 1986, is a non-profit intermediary organization that coordinates community based efforts, fosters collaboration, and funds services to assist families and individuals in Central Ohio to resolve their housing crisis.  The Community Shelter Board allocates $7.5 million annually to support programs at 12 agencies.  Last year, these programs served more than 11,000 individuals.  The Community Shelter Board is funded by the City of Columbus, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, the United Way of Central Ohio, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the State of Ohio, and other public and private donors.
