Thanks to the support of individuals like you, Lora McClendon was able to take a life-changing step.  Lora was living on the streets, battling drug and alcohol addiction and separated from her four children.  She was desperate to stop using drugs and alcohol, but didn’t know how.  Then she entered the Engagement Center at Maryhaven, a CSB partner agency program. Lora describes her experience there by saying, “They saved my life, and helped me start a new one.”

The Community Shelter Board was able to help hundreds of men, women and children like Lora over the past year despite difficult economic conditions that challenged us and our partner agencies with reduced staffs and budgets.  Contributions from concerned community members like you made this work possible. 

Last spring, a New York Times editorial praised Central Ohio for its comprehensive, caring approach to the complex issues of homelessness.  We believe that this record of success merits your investment.  Your support will enable us to:

• Continue our efforts that keep people from becoming homeless;

• Provide shelter in emergency circumstances for women, men, and children; and

• Establish and maintain supportive services and permanent housing for individuals with long-term housing needs.
